Introduction:

Over time, those who operate video presentation software can have hundreds of hours invested entering, checking, and tweaking their song libraries. The last thing that a person wants to do is redo all the work that took months or even years to create. Exporting the user's song libraries is a simple way to move, and protect those efforts.

However, R-Technics SongShow Plus uses a proprietary format for its song database and the software does not facilitate exporting the user's song library. There are times when exporting songs is useful or even necessary: sharing song lyrics with other organizations that may not be using SongShow Plus, making plain text backups, migrating to another database format, or just switching presentation software. Whatever the reason, this application is here to help.

This application will read the SongShowPlus song files and convert them into plain text files. Lyrics, author, copyright, title, and sequence data are all exported as well. The exported text format is compatible with MediaShout's ShoutSinger. However, once the information is in plain text, with a little work, it can be ported to most any application.

Here is the SSPExporter interface:

This textbox is where the export deposit folder is specified. A browse button has been added for convenience.
Choose the drive from the drop-down list where the song files are located.
Choose the folder from the folder list where the song files are located. Double-click to expand the folders.
Select a file that you want to convert. You may double-click the file to start the conversion.
Check the box labeled: "Convert Entire Folder", to convert all the contents of a folder as a batch.
The "Start Conversion" button will invoke the conversion process.
The Status line will display messages during the process.
The Song Data Export tab provides a view of the converted song.
The Process Log tab will display messages and errors that occurred during the conversion process.
The File Viewer tab will display an simplistic interpretation of the SongShowPlus song file.

Accuracy and Reliability:

If any errors or unexpected data markers are encountered during the conversion process, the text "[CHECK]" will be pre-pended to the export file name. This creates an easy way to find songs that may not have exported completely.

So far in testing and use, nearly 1000 SongShow Plus song files have exported with less 0.5% were flagged "[CHECK]" and no song data was lost.
